How the gematria calculator works

Gematria assigns a number to each letter, then adds those values to calculate a word, name, or phrase. This calculator shows multiple English ciphers together so you can compare results without treating values from different systems as interchangeable.

Supported English gematria ciphers

Calculate a word or phrase

Enter text above and select Search. Spaces and punctuation do not add value. The spelling and selected cipher determine the result, so record both when comparing two phrases. You can select a displayed total to explore indexed words, players, teams, dates, and phrases with the same value.

Gematria calculator questions

What is a gematria calculator used for?

It makes letter-value arithmetic reproducible. Researchers use it to compare names, phrases, dates, teams, and other text under a clearly named cipher.

Why does one phrase have several values?

Each cipher assigns letters differently. A match is meaningful only when both phrases use the same spelling and cipher.

Does this calculator accept Hebrew letters?

The interactive calculator currently focuses on English ciphers. For traditional Hebrew calculations, use the original Hebrew spelling and a method that states how final letter forms are valued. Read the Hebrew gematria guide for those conventions.

Can I search by number?

Yes. Enter a value from 1 to 9999 to open its number properties and matching indexed terms.
